Occupied

I find the busier I get, the less likely I am to sit down and blog. I don't know how people have time to do this so often. When I have significant events to blog about I usually am busy so I don't get the opportunity to blog about them. I have done a lot of fun things lately I just haven't written about them. This week I carved a pumpkin with my roomie Cristina. If anyone saw the Happy Halloween one in the Marketplace that was ours. I also got my costume last night at the Park City Mall. I am going to be a zebra and I am super excited about it. I was going to be a lady bug but the costume was 60 bucks. I find that an outrageous price for a costume. So I found zebra ears for 2.50 and a zebra dress for 20 bucks. I was pretty pleased. The Halloween dinner in the caf was pretty intense tonight. I didn't realize how into it the staff got. Then we lost to Lebanon Valley in four games. We could have won. I have to move on to writing my research paper now. :)

Glow Bowling

Last night my friends and I went to Soul Cafe, the Bird Cage, and then Glow Bowling. I am going to make no comment on the Soul Cafe. However, the Bird Cage was fun. I demonstrated my ping pong skills and then I demonstrated my lack there of Foosball skills. It was fun. Afterwards, we went to Clearview Lanes for Glowbowling. Now you must understand I have gone bowling about 10 times in my entire life so I never expect much. However, my first game I bowled a 148 so I was pretty excited. I even bowled a turkey in there (three strikes in a row). So that was fun. It got progressively worse after that but it was still awesome. When I have time I will add some pictures of the fun evening. :)

???

I am very overwhelmed with scheduling. I have no idea what I want to do with my life. I don't know if I should continue in the business department or switch into another major. I am interested in communications but I don't think I could find the type of job I want around the area in which I want to live in. I also love psychology but I don't think I have enough willpower to make it through graduate school just yet. To do anything substantial in pysch you have to have at least a masters degree. Then there is Spanish, which I find will be extremely useful in the future but I don't know if I should continue with that or not. I don't know what core classes I want to take either. My AP credits that transferred accounted for some of them but I feel I should still take some courses in those areas. I haven't taken a math class since my junior year of high school. If I wait much longer to take another course I will forget most of it altogether. I am very OCD when it comes to getting right what I want to do. I need to make sure I figure out something logical for next semester.

Movies of the Weekend

This weekend I watched Nights in Rondanthe and Sex in the City the Movie. Nights in Rondanthe fell very short of my expectations. The preview makes the movie look amazing but the characters relationship, which is the focus of the movie is unnatural, awkward, and rushed. Also, the movie does not end in a happily after ending, which really upset me. On the other hand Sex in the City surpassed my expectations greatly. I felt it was very well done and finished off the series eloquently. However, it was really long and I normally like movies to be under two hours. I am glad I got to see both movies this weekend.

Homecoming weekend

Homecoming weekend was really fun! My mother came up for the entire weekend and stayed at a hotel in Columbia. I thought the events were really neat. I loved the parades, the floats were all really cute. My favorite was don't wake daddy but it didn't win anything. Then I went to the fair and got two shirts, the 2012 class shirt "shake ya tailfeather" and the sock and buskin shirt "U r in etown if ..." Afterwards, my mother and I went to Burger King for lunch. In the afternoon we went to the combined coral concerts. They were really good. I used to always go watch my sister so it was nice to see some coral performance. I froze my butt off at the soccer game ( I barely made it to half time). The helicopters were a nice touch. For dinner we went to the Homecoming Buffet. The food was a little better than normal however, it was really crowded. The 15 minute intervals didn't really work. Then at night we went and saw Nights in Rodanthe at Movie Etown. It was a really good day.

dradnats ehT

Hollywood definitely picked up when we drove on Sunset Blvd. The businesses were more California like. We ate dinner at The Standard which is a restaurant in a hotel in which everything is anything but standard. When we walked in a girl was in a glass box, the chairs were cushions on the floor or globes hanging from the ceiling. The picture on the right is andrea and I in the chairs. We ate dinner out on the pool deck. Which was lit by candles and the room lights of the hotel. The food was amazing and reasonable priced. The picture to the right was taken on the pool deck overlooking Hollywood. After dinner which took over two hours we drove down Rodeo Drive and through Beverly Hills. That was probably my favorite part of the trip. It was amazing. I wish we would have had time to actually go shopping.

Pacific Ocean

One of the nights in Cali we drove to Huntington Beach. It was a rather long drive on insanely large highways. If you think there are big interstates on the East Coast you are mistaken. We merged onto and off of 8 lane highways. The roads are so big they constantly split and you constantly have to merge in order to get to where you want to go. This might be fine for a normal car but we were caravaning in two 12 passenger vans. It was pretty stressful but surprisingly we never got lost. Above is our team picture in the Pacific Ocean. I am glad that I can say I got to step in the Pacific Ocean. The water was actually really warm. Two of the girls got in. I was going to but I did not have my swimsuit on. Now I can officially say I have been as far North, East, South and West in the United States. After we took A LOT of pictures on the beach we ate out on the pier at Ruby's Diner. It was pretty amazing. I got an Oreo cookie fantasy milkshake which was possibly the bet milkshake I have drank. :)

Hollywood California

My trip to California was awesome! All the flights went well, with minimal turbulence. The hotel was amazing! We got to lay out and get some sun by the pool as soon as we got there. We played three games throughout the weekend and we ended up losing all of them. However, they were all close matches. Cali teams are simply faster and bigger. After our games we got to do fun things around the area. The last night we went into Hollywood! On the left is my friend Andrea and I on Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood is NOT what you think it is or it should be. I hate to say it but Hollywood Blvd. itself is rather trashy. It is laden with drugged out, homeless, drunk. trashy people. Worst of all it is rather dirty and touristy. However, it was still nice to say Ive been there. I got to see the Hollywood sign, the Kodak Theater, and the Chinese Theater. The walk of fame is cool and I was able to get a lot of pictures of my various favorite stars. I also found the imprints outside the Chinese theater really cool. I did not enjoy the people who pretended to dress up like characters and then demanded money from you if you took a picture of them. I was a little scared around these "characters." All in all it was a good experience. I am glad I was able to see Hollywood.

California Dreaming

Tomorrow the volleyball team leaves for Claremont, California at 4:00 am. Despite the time I am very excited because I have never been out West further than Texas. Claremont is only 40 minutes from L.A.! So hopefully I will be able to see some sites. I am a little nervous about the plane ride but only because I have only flown once and I was 9. From what I remember it wasn't a very great experience. So hopefully everything will go smoothly. We fly from Philly to Denver and then Denver into Ontario, California. Then we get to sight see when we get there. We play three games, one on Friday and two on Saturday at Ponoma-Pitzer College. I haven't started packing yet. I should probably work on that. :)

Back to School

Well, the weekend went by too fast :(. I am already back at school facing all my homework and projects. So I am most likely going to start the week off on the wrong foot because I want to be home. I am so much more comfortable at my house than I am here. I guess thats why I liked being home. Today I got to go to church with my family which was refreshing. Then my mother made us salmon for lunch which was amazing because it is one of my favorite foods. Then I had to take care of all this banking paperwork which I screwed up. I always screw up all my banking stuff and end up having to call the companies. ridiculous. I should be doing homework now but I keep running into people to talk to. I also am doing my laundry. So nothing is getting accomplished.

Maryland :)

I got home last night around 9:00 pm because my mom and I decided to stop for dinner at Burger King. On the way home I asked my brother Ben to start a campfire. It is a family tradition to have a fall campfire in which we always roast hot dogs, marshmallows, and such and just be together as a family. It is an event I always look forward to. So we got home and sat and talked around the fire. I roasted two marshmallows. It was nice. Then I gave my dad a belated birthday gift. I watched some tv and finally got to sleep in my own bed. It is really weird I haven't been home for about a month and my house smells different and feels different. It seems pretty surreal. My bed felt nice but it seemed low to the ground after sleeping on a lofted bed. This morning I slept in until around 9. Then I played some video games with my brother. He showed me the new game "spore" which is causing controversies for being "satanic". I thought the game was hilariously fun and I am already in the tribal stage. Then I have just been hanging out. I will get a nice family meal tonight and then I will get to see my brothers performance. It should be a fun evening.

Home!

I finally get to go home tomorrow! I am very excited to finally get to be back in my house, see my family, and sleep in my own bed. I called home last night and my brother answered the phone and he sounded so excited to get to hang out with me. He also said he was glad I finally would get to come see him in his band show. After coming to my games his entire life he is glad I am the one doing the watching this visit. Today I talked to my Mom and she said that he wasn't going to go to a friends party because I was coming home. I felt so special that my brother would want to see me that much. It was really nice and it helped get me through the day. Hopefully, this visit will eliminate my homesickness for a while so I can come back refreshed and ready to do well in my classes.
